make birth control affordable

Make Birth Control Affordable
The price of birth control at college campus health centers and at many clinics serving low income women has increased dramatically. At some campuses, it has doubled and some others have tripled. And some have seen prices go up five times.

Why are you paying more for birth control?
For almost 20 years, Medicaid pricing rules allowed pharmaceutical companies to provide college health centers and clinics serving low income women with birth control at a substantial discount. As a result, young women and low income women across the country have had access to affordable birth control.

But in 2005, the rules changed, going into effect on January 1, 2007. The result: the run-up of birth control prices this Spring and Summer on campus.

Join us in demanding that policymakers restore affordable birth control for college health centers and clinics serving low-income women!

Stand with our sisters in Iran

Please join our virtual march around the world, in solidarity with our sisters in Iran!
Send a message to the United Nations and Iranian officials demanding the immediate release of the remaining three women’s rights activists. The Iranian authorities must see people everywhere joining together to protest the detainment of these leaders and to call for equal rights for women in Iran. With the eyes of the world upon this injustice, we can help ensure the safe release of these courageous women and prevent future arrests of feminists for peacefully protesting for equal rights.

repeal the global gag rule

Join our Standing with Our Sisters (SOS) Campaign and take action to Repeal the Global Gag Rule and Refund UNFPA!
Urge Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid to release the authorized funds for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and lift the Global Gag Rule to help women and their families with critical services such as family planning and protection from HIV/AIDS. UNFPA is the world's largest international source of funding for population and reproductive health programs working in over 150 countries. The UNFPA helps women and their families avoid unwanted pregnancies, undergo safe motherhood care, and protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS. The Gag Rule impacts poor women and girls who are most in need of access to comprehensive reproductive health care services. Clinics providing comprehensive reproductive health care and family planning services have been forced to shut down as a result of the Global Gag Rule. Family Planning Saves Lives Worldwide!

take action for women in the mariana islands

Help stop the exploitation of women workers in the Northern Mariana Islands! Write your Senators now!
At long last, Congress is acting to stop the exploitation of guest workers in the Northern Mariana Islands, a territory of the U.S. The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will hold hearings on February 8th on whether or not the labor and immigration abuses in the Northern Marianas warrant additional legislative reform by Congress. Write your Senators to extend all U.S. labor and immigration law protections to these guest workers and put an end to the unjust treatment of women workers in the Marianas.

Repeal the Global Gag Rule

Urge your members of Congress to co-sponsors the GDPA!
On Monday, January 22nd, 2007, Representatives Nita Lowey (D-NY), Chris Shays (R-CT) and 36 other members of Congress reintroduced the Global Democracy Promotion Act (GDPA), a bill that would repeal the Global Gag Rule and release much needed funds for international family planning programs. The GDPA prohibits the denial of U.S. funds to overseas groups based on the medical services they provide, and makes clear that U.S. funds may not be used to impose restrictions on free speech that would be illegal if applied in the United States. We need you to contact your Members of Congress today and ask them to add their names to the list of co-sponsors of the GDPA.

Defend Reproductive Freedom

Urge your representative and senators to defend reproductive freedom!
Join the signers of the Ms. Petition for Safe, Legal, and Accessible Abortion and Birth Control. Contact your representative and senators to tell them that reproductive freedom must be defended. Join us by standing up and speaking truth to power.

No more troops in Iraq!

Send a message now to your senators and representative, opposing any escalation of the war in Iraq!
Not only did the 2006 election send a clear anti-war message to President Bush, but the majority of the American people, including the majority of women, are opposed to the war in Iraq. The Iraq war has already cost the lives of more than 3,000 U.S. service members and some 600,000 Iraqis, according to a Johns Hopkins study.
