According to a statement by Susan G. Komen Founder and CEO Nancy Brinker and its Board of Directors, they “will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants.” This is a reversal from the policy released earlier this week that would have stripped Planned Parenthood of funding by “not funding grant applications made by organizations under investigation.” As recognized in this statement however, a great majority of the attacks and investigations into Planned Parenthood are purely politically motivated.
Planned Parenthood is a leading women’s health provider at the community level across the country and we celebrate the fact that they will continue receiving support to provide cancer screenings to women who need them most. It is thanks in no small part to the outcry from all of us that STAND WITH PLANNED PARENTHOOD!
