We know that one of the best parts of NYFLC is all the amazing feminists you have the chance to meet and connect with, but there is so much information and work to be done throughout our plenaries and workshops. The Feminist Campus Team wants to make sure that regardless of your mood and flavor, there’s an option for you to kick back and make some new feminist friends. We have a little something for everyone…

Mixer Option 1: Miss Representation Film Screening and Discussion
Feel like staying in after the long day? We’ll be showing the incredible documentary Miss Representation, a film that exposes the underrepresentation of women in mainstream media and its impact on ourselves and on the power imbalances in our society. The movie will begin at 7pm and run until about 10pm. We’ll also have soft drinks, cookies & brownie and after the film the amazing Feminist Majority Foundation interns will lead a discussion.

Mixer Option 2: Networking Mixer with
the Women’s Information Network in Adams Morgan
Join us and the amazing women of Women’s Information Network to meet and learn more about the variety of career paths you can pursue as a feminist. Hang out on the second floor of one of our favorite restaurants, Madam’s Organ Blues Bar, in DC’s Adams Morgan neighborhood with women who have found ways to put their feminism into practice through a variety of work.
Located at 2461 18th St NW, Madams Organ is accessible by metro followed by a 15 minute walk (parking in the city is very limited, so we suggest public transportation):
- Take the Yellow line in the direction of Fort Totten and get off at the Columbia Heights stop. From there, you’ll head South on 14th street for a block, then take a right on Columbia Road. Stay on Columbia Rd for about 10 minutes, then take a left on 18th. The bar is a short distance from there and will be on your left.
- To travel with a group, meet across the street from hotel near Chili’s at 6:15pm, and we’ll all head there together. If you come late or on your own, make sure to tell the front door that you are with a group on the second floor to avoid being charged cover.
This event is accessible to everyone, including those under 21, from 7-9pm. At 9pm the bar invites us to stay, but those who are underage must exit.
Food and drinks will be available at the bar. Their food menu includes things like burgers, chili, and nachos (vegetarian!). Prices for food range from $5-$12. No food or drink minimum.

Mixer 3: Dinner Mixer at Vapiano’s in Chinatown
Feel like checking out the downtown scene of DC? Chinatown is a great area with lots of bars and restaurants for tastes of all varieties and options for all ages. We’ve reserved a section for NYFLC attendees at a hip Italian bar and restaurant called Vapiano, located at 623 H St NW in the heart of Chinatown.
The restaurant is metro accessible – hop in the Yellow line in the direction of Fort Totten, and get off at the Gallery Place/Chinatown stop. From there, you’ll take 7thSt North and take an immediate right onto H St.
- To travel with a group, meet across the street near Chili’s at 6:20pm. The event is accessible to everyone, including those under 21, from 7-10pm. If you come late, look for us in the front by the couches.
Food offered here: pizza, pasta, salads, and prices range from $10-20. You’re not required to purchase food, and Vapiano’s “chipcard” system makes it really easy for each person to only pay for their own items without the hassle of splitting the bill!
