Get Into It: Take A Minute Today to Tell Us Why You Love Your Body!

It’s Love Your Body Day! The one, special day devoted to appreciating a loving the body you’re in. That’s SO IMPORTANT! We think NOW sums it up pretty well:

Every day, in so many ways, the beauty industry (and the media in general) tell women and girls that being admired, envied and desired based on their looks is a primary function of true womanhood. The beauty template women are expected to follow is extremely narrow, unrealistic and frequently hazardous to their health. The Love Your Body campaign challenges the message that a woman’s value is best measured through her willingness and ability to embody current beauty standards.

Today, women and girls around the country will tell the world why they love their bodies, or think it to themselves in loud whispers, or reflect on it for a couple of minutes. And we deserve it.

We joined in on the #LoveYourBodyDay celebration by asking FMF staff to tell those stories on our Instagram. Here’s what they had to say:

Let today be a celebration of why you love your body. Do you love how strong it is? How fast it can run? How well it can dance? Do you love the hugs it can give? Or maybe you love your freckles, or your hair. Maybe you love your body for any of the reasons we do. Either way, tell us! Tweet @FeministCampus with the hashtag #LoveYourBodyDay or snap a selfie on Instagram with the same hashtag to spread the body love!

And by the way: your hair looks great today.
