The Wellness Resource Center at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) invites applicants for the full time, 12 month, professional faculty position of Sexual Assault Services Coordinator. VCU is a major public research university enrolling more than 32,000 students. The primary duties of this position include: coordinating advocacy services for survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence or stalking, complying with the Federal Campus Security Act and Title IX regulations, serving as a faculty advisor to student organizations, and conducting outreach and education events to promote a healthy campus environment.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has a Master degree in Social Work, Sociology, College Student Personnel, Public Health or related field; experience working or volunteering in the area of sexual assault, relationship violence or stalking prevention or services; experience as an advocate for victims of sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking; ability to critically review health-related professional literature relevant to college students and assess its applicability and utility for effectiveness on our campus; demonstrated skills in gathering and synthesizing information to develop health promotion initiatives and educational materials for a diverse group of students; demonstrated skills in a variety of educational methods including presentations, trainings, small group facilitation and individual sessions; strong written/oral/interpersonal communication skills; proficient in a variety of computer software applications (word processing, spreadsheet and PowerPoint); must be willing to conduct periodic evening/weekend programs and events; demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage time and prioritize tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
Post-graduate Certificate in Gender Violence Intervention; experience working in a college/university setting; quantitative and qualitative research skills (e.g. research design, conducting focus groups, data analysis, etc); experience collaborating with sexual assault and/or domestic violence community organizations; supervisory skills; budget skills; grant writing skills.
