Who is Greenpeace? Greenpeace is the leading independent environmental campaigning organization that uses peaceful direct action and creative communication to expose global environmental problems and to promote solutions that are essential to a green and peaceful future.

Position Description:

Our Grassroots team is dedicated to organizing students and volunteers to take direct action within their communities for global green solutions to our planet's environmental problems.

Our team is comprised of:
Field Organizing Team - Field Organizers are based in several cities across the country working with volunteers, building organizational power, securing relationships with influential allies, generating media coverage, and mobilizing grassroots support in their region.

National Activist Network - This team empowers students and other activists and gives them tools, info, and training to get involved with Greenpeace and take action in their local communities.

Frontline Campaigns - The Frontline Team is our fundraising canvass team that talks to hundreds of people every day, engaging them in Greenpeace campaigns and gives them the opportunity to take action on the street by making a phone call, to signing a petition or writing a postcard.

Greenpeace Semester - The Greenpeace Semester is a trimester program that trains students in grassroots organizing, campaign strategy, non-violent direct action, and media.

Responsibilities:

The Grassroots Administrative Intern will assist these programs in various different ways:

Providing administrative support for 30+ grassroots organizers including reviewing expense reports and working directly with the Finance department Writing monthly campaign reports and an internal newsletter Event organizing - assisting in logistics for national and regional trainings Updating the internal wiki page Working once a month from our equipment warehouse in Landover, MD to assist with shipping supplies to field offices Assisting with activist recruitment Data entry Other various administrative tasks


Qualifications:

Applicants must be over 18, but do not have to be current students.

Strong attention to detail
Strong written and verbal skills
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Organized
Reliable
Ability to prioritize and manage various tasks with competing deadlines Self-learner and self-starter Be able to take projects and run with them Creative Dedicated to helping save the world one expense report at a time Work 25-40 hours per week with one day being Tuesday or Wednesday (Wednesdays preferred) Familiarity with grassroots organizing and training a plus

Program Details:
Our Spring internships start February 4th and end May 3rd. Part time and full time positions available. Most positions require a commitment of at least 3 days/week. Each intern is trained and closely supervised by a member of the department to which they've been assigned. We are flexible with your schedule and can help you receive course credit. All internships are unpaid.
Unfortunately Greenpeace cannot provide housing.
