What We Offer

The Planned Parenthood of Illinois 3rd Party Billing Department works to ensure that insurance billing is transmitted in an accurate and timely manner. As part of this goal we verify insurance benefits before a patient is seen in our health centers.

The Insurance Billing Intern will work closely with the Director of 3rd Party Billing and Coordinator of Billing and Collections to review, analyze, and recommend ways to be more efficient in getting insurance information and sharing that information with the health center as well as with the patient.

Internship highlights:
-Gain experience with the Electronic Practice Management system.
-Learn about PPIL's 3rd Party Billing Department and primary functions, including insurance verification, insurance payment posting, and investigating claim denials.
-Create an insurance trouble shooting guide for claims with no response and present guide to the insurance department.

What We Ask

-Belief in and support of the Planned Parenthood mission
-Interest and / or experience in billing or financial administration
-Superior organizational and analytical skills
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
-Commitment of 10 -15 hours per week through the semester

Hours: Hours are flexible, with shifts available Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm
