The Work/Family and Fairness team at the National Partnership for Women & Families is looking for a 2013 Spring Work/Family and Workplace Fairness Policy Intern to help with our fast-paced growing campaigns to improve workplaces for workers and their families. The intern will conduct research and work on policy papers and fact sheets, attend briefings, create presentations and provide general support to the Partnership's Work/Family and Workplace Fairness teams. Our Work/Family priorities include paid sick days, paid family and medical leave, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) enhancement, and workplace flexibility. Our Workplace Fairness Priorities include equal pay, employment discrimination, and FMLA enforcement.
Qualifications include strong interpersonal, writing, and computer skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks and take initiative; ability to work independently and a significant degree of organization. Quantitative analysis skills are particularly desirable. Knowledge of Microsoft Access a plus. Preference will be given to applicants with experience and demonstrated interest or academic studies in political science, public policy and/or women's issues. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.
The spring internship is unpaid but is available for course credit and may be full-time or part-time.
