Feminist Job Description

Job Title: Women's Health and Rights Intern
Organization: Center for American Progress
Region: DC Metro Region
Description: The Women's Health and Rights team at the Center for American Progress seeks an intern for winter/spring 2013. The intern?s primary responsibility will be to provide research support for the team?s ongoing projects at the Center.

Our work focuses primarily on reproductive health, rights, and justice and promotes policies that provide people with the ability to become a parent and parent with dignity, to determine whether or when to have children, to have healthy pregnancies, and to have safe and healthy families and relationships. Our products contribute to framing policy and political debates affecting women's health--especially ongoing threats to contraception and abortion--as well as educating policymakers and advocacy groups about important advancements made in women's health through various reforms, most significantly the Affordable Care Act. We work collaboratively with a host of outside groups as well as other teams at the Center that intersect with women?s health and rights, including especially our economic policy, faith and progressive policy, immigration, racial equality, and poverty teams.

The right candidate will demonstrate strong writing skills and a solid background in reproductive rights and justice. Applicants must have excellent research and organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and pay careful attention to deadlines and follow-up. The intern will also be responsible for assisting the team with administrative work in support of public and private events at the Center and general office support.

Applicants should apply to the Domestic Policy Internship through the Center's website. To be considered for this position, applicants must indicate their interest in working on Women?s Health and Rights in their cover letter.

*starting date is flexible
