    • Organizing
    • Changing the World
    • Finding Feminists like YOU, in ANY language

What We're About to Do...

  • We're now in the process of redesigning Feminist.org, MsMagazine.com, and FeministCampus.org this year
  • We are adding...
    • TWO Youtube channels
    • Blogs on all of the main sites
    • Podcasts
    • Community Site Features

What Can We Do for You?

  • Give us your lists and we will give you ours!
  • Statewide Initiative? We can help you get the word out! We can divide our lists by...
    • State, Zip Code, Interest, and more...

Online Activism Primer

  • Five Rules of Online Activism
    1. 1. Decide the End before the Means! What do you want to accomplish?
    2. 2. Persistence is Key!
    3. 3. Integrate, Integrate, Integrate! Online activism works best when combined with other activism and vice versa.
    4. 4. Content makes people come back
    5. 5. You are SELLING something!
  • Online Advocacy Tools
    • Websites
      • Too much information is BETTER than not enough!
      • Avoid clutter in your look and feel of the site
      • Navigation and good organization are important
      • Keep your content current
    • Email Lists
      • List management software: bcc, yahoo groups, for-pay
      • Promote yourself
      • Always have sign-up sheets
      • Big lists should be divided by topics
      • Send often enough to be relevant but not so often that you are spam
    • Social Networking & Social Media
      • MySpace, Facebook and Friendster - Create groups! Send out mass messages! Create events! Post bulletins! Network! Chat!
      • LiveJournal - Blog! Network! Message!
      • Twitter - Let people know what you're doing and about events!
      • Instant Messaging : AIM, GoogleTalk, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ, etc.- don't forget to use your away message as advertising and to let people know what you're doing!
      • Flikr - Show people your pictures, and link them to other sites!
      • Event notification: gcalendar and evite - Let people know what you're doing, and send out mass invites!
    • Blogs & Bloggers
      • Why blog?
        • It's free!
        • RSS keeps people up to date all the time
        • They create a sense of community and are part of the larger online conversation
        • Content MUST be current - you cannot start and then abandon if you want it to be good press (and not bad press)
If you decide against a blog, that does not mean you cannot use other blogs!
      • You can use blog ads and press releases
      • You can also share events and guest write
    • Video & Animation
      • It's easy and free! (If you have the equipment, of course)
      • Viral marketing at its best!
      • Videos and animation can also be sent like press releases to blogs, websites, and other organizations
      • If you don't want to create video/animation content, maybe your supporters do!
    • Other Ways to Reach Out
