I was raped by my brother-in-law. My husband had gone to India for work. He had visited me two years before the incident. The rape by my husband’s own brother resulted in an pregnancy. When I told to my in-laws about it they asked me to abort the child. I denied to do so but they gave me the medicine without my notice and I miscarried the fetus.

To hide their son’s misdeed my father in-law called the police and accused me of doing abortion. Then I was taken into custody and the court decided five years imprisonment for me. I was set free three years back and now living with my maternal aunt. Had the abortion been legal that time at least I would not have spent my days in the prison. I have been outcaste socially but I wonder was that my fault that I was raped and I miscarried it. What about the punishment to my brother in law who raped me?.
