GOHV 2012, That's a Wrap!
Thank you for all of your hard work getting out the vote on your campuses this year! Check out our 'ballot measure results' page and our election results recap on the campus blog. We would love to hear feedback from you about your GOHV efforts -- what kinds of organizing did you do on your campus? What worked? What didn't? What kinds of resources would you like to see from us in the future? Email your regional campus organizer!
What is GOHV?
The Feminist Majority Foundation's Get Out HER Vote Campaign (GOHV) is the nation's only student-led voter education and registration initiative aimed at increasing young women’s voter participation. We have the most at stake at the polls – we are underrepresented at all levels of government, including campus student governments, and the policies we vote on will affect us, our sisters, and women around the world.
The war on women is ever present. Access to abortion and birth control will be on the ballot in several key states. Global warming is an ever-present reality. Corporations are exploiting undocumented workers for cheap labor. Young women immediately confront the gender wage gap as they graduate from college and start a full-time job. It is time for young feminists across the country to VOTE AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!
Election Day 2012 is Tuesday, November 6. Most states' voter registration deadlines end in early October, so join the GOHV campaign today! Use our tool kit (PDF) and website to help you launch your Get Out HER Vote campaign on campus. Work with FMF’s National Campus Organizers to organize your campus and ensure your voter drive is a success! Contact us with any questions and tell us about your progress!
GOHV is a non-partisan, issue-based campaign that does not oppose, support, or otherwise endorse any candidate for public office. Feminist Majority Leadership Alliances or affiliates undertaking the GOHV campaign should not support any individual candidate or party, and must afford everyone the opportunity to register to vote regardless of their party affiliation.
The Feminist Majority Foundation has compiled an action Tool Kit and this website to help you launch a successful Get Out Her Vote (GOHV) campaign on your campus. With these materials on-hand, your FMLA/affiliate is empowered to get out the feminist vote.
Remember – your national campus organizers are available and more than willing to help! Feel free to contact us with any questions!
