It’s time for the 3rd Annual Summer Celebration of Choice!
Abortion Access Fund and the Feminist Majority Foundation will be hosting a march and rally on Sunday, August 25th from 2-4PM on the lawn outside of Germantown Reproductive Health Clinic in Maryland to support the Abortion Access Fund. Come out for a march, awesome speakers, plenty of opportunities to meet your fellow activists, and prizes from our awesome raffle!
Dr. Carhart, a later-term abortion provider who will be featured in the upcoming documentary After Tiller, works at the Germantown Reproductive Health Clinic. His patients need support: they have some of the highest abortion costs in the country.
The Summer Celebration of Choice was originally created as a response to Summer of Mercy 2.0, a mass anti-choice protest put on by Operation Rescue outside of the clinic in 2011. During that week long protest, anti-choice bullies hoped to intimidate women and the community, but instead that were faced with masses of pro-choice supporters defending the clinic and defending women’s health in Germantown. We hope to celebrate that day every year! This is the third year we’ve brought reproductive rights leaders, abortion advocates, and pro-choice activists together for this great cause; the first event was a walk on July 31, 2011 and raised over $10,000 to help aide the Dr. Carhart’s patients.
Please show your support for Dr. Carhart, his patients, and abortion access by coming down to Germantown, Maryland on the 25th and telling your friends and colleagues to join you! You can RSVP on Facebook, and if you register you get a water bottle and tee-shirt for only twenty dollars. If you need a ride or would be willing to carpool and bring folks over, sign up for the rideshare. (Drivers who carpool and bring other folks beside themselves will receive registration-only goodies for free.)
See you there! Wear pro-choice shirts or just your typical rally gear, and get ready for a great afternoon!
