Is there a feminist in your community who gets you fired up and ready to go? Has someone stepped up recently to make big waves on your campus? Are you in awe of a local organizer or activist from your university who’s really making things happen?

You’re in luck – ’cause as of today, we’re giving you a chance to give them the recognition – and feminist swag bag – they deserve. On us. All you’ve gotta do is enter them in our very first Feminist You Should Know contest!

We’re on the lookout for feminists across the nation who are doing big things. From the people behind-the-scenes who do event planning to the passionate folks providing direct services, from op-ed writers to rally speech givers, we’re looking for folks with standout skills who come to mind when you think, “the future of feminism.” And we need you to help us find them.

Here’s how it works:

  • Starting today, October 28, through Friday, November 8, we’re accepting submissions online from people like YOU letting us know who the stellar feminists in their community are and what they’ve done. Just go to our online form and tell us why the feminist in your life rocks and / or rolls before nominations close to have them considered by our all-star Campus Team for the honor of FYSK 2013.
  • On November 13, we’ll announce all the nominees and our chosen finalists on the campus blog. All nominees will receive notification beforehand and have the opportunity to opt-out of the contest at this point, just in case the feminists you want us to know aren’t too keen on being known to the entire Internet at once.
  • Starting November 18, we’ll be publishing short blog posts by the finalists on our brand-spankin’-new redesigned blog, and you’ll get seven days to vote on each one. “Voting” is measured via community praise: the number of comments on their posts as well as Facebook and Twitter share counts.
  • We announce the winner Monday, December 2.

The only pre-requisite for nominations is a simple one: you need to nominate a feminist who champions what we believe in here at Feminist Campus. We’re interested in everyone and anyone doing great work, and nominations aren’t limited by sex, gender, college enrollment status, or any other factors. Ideally, our nominees will be under or around 25 and do work targeted and young people. And yes, you can nominate yourself! We’re interested in all kinds of stories, and we’re hoping to celebrate lots of different people from a diverse array of life experiences.

We’ve got a bunch of sweet prize packages waiting for the lucky feminists coming to your mind at exactly this precise moment, so don’t wait another second to get ’em good and nominated. If you have someone in mind, come right out and say it!

You can share this post and follow the contest online with the hashtag #FYSK2013.
