#BlackHERstory: Deon Haywood and Women With A Vision

February 19, 2015 by Taylor Kuether Leave a Comment

In support of  #BlackHERstory Month, we’ll be posting about one current black feminist leader or organization each weekday in February. Tune in daily to learn more about black women’s history, feminism, and the reproductive justice movement!

Women With a Vision, Inc. is a New Orleans-based non-profit organization addressing issues of social justice for women of color. Focus areas include Sex Worker Rights, Drug Policy Reform, HIV Positive Women’s Advocacy, and Reproductive Justice outreach.

Since Hurricane Katrina, Executive Director Deon Haywood has developed the organization to address the intersections of socioeconomic injustices and health disparities. Ms. Haywood has since received numerous accolades for her commitment to minority rights and HIV/AIDS activism.
