We Won’t Go Back: Stand With Ohio Women October 2!

As some of you know, I recently spent a week in Ohio visiting various campus groups to organize for an upcoming rally – and I’d really like for you to be there! The women of Ohio deserve better than anti-choice legislation and attacks on their reproductive rights. We won’t go back. Will you stand with us?

The We Won’t Go Back rally will be held on October 2nd at the State House in Columbus starting at 11:30 am.

The rally is being held to protest regressive legislation that will limit access to reproductive healthcare for Ohio women. Recent legislation, including a heartbeat bill, put forth in the state will force clinics to close, decrease funding for family planning, and increase funding for fake clinics and CPCs, among many harmful effects.

Student leaders from Ohio University, Ohio State University, Kenyon, and Ohio Wesleyan are sending groups of students to the rally to show that young people care about access to reproductive healthcare and won’t stand for these regressive policies. Students have been working with campus staff and faculty to set up transportation to the rally, create excused absences (and even extra credit) for rally attendance, and spread the word about this legislation and the rally.

The fight for reproductive rights doesn’t stop with state policy: once these laws are put into place, they will spread to other states and affect women nationally. An attack on Ohio’s women is an attack on all women in the United States. We need to stand up now and make our voices heard on women’s rights to reproductive healthcare.

I’m reaching out to ask you to stand with us, and I hope I see you there.

If you are interested in attending the rally or organizing students on your campus, e-mail me at [email protected] for more information or call me at (703) 522 – 2214. If you can’t attend, don’t fret – we’ll be live-tweeting the rally on October 2nd from @feministcampus!

  1. As a woman, I am sick and tired of the TeaTwits trying to make decisions for me about my health care and anything else. We need to kick butt and take names on this and fight to the end!!

P.S. Perhaps we could hold these rallies on the weekend when people are generally off work instead of the middle of the week so more of us can attend??
