#BlackHERstory: Shireen Mitchell and Digital Sisters/Sistas

February 23, 2015 by Taylor Kuether Leave a Comment

In support of  #BlackHERstory Month, we’ll be posting about one current black feminist leader or organization each weekday in February. Tune in daily to learn more about black women’s history, feminism, and the reproductive justice movement!

Shireen Mitchell is the founder and Executive Director of Digital Sisters/Sistas, a nonprofit organization that provides technology and media education to women and children who are traditionally underserved.

Ms. Mitchell has over twenty years of experience in combining information and communication technologies with policy, advocacy, and education to empower underserved communities. In partnership with community-based organizations, technology corporations, and schools, Digital Sisters/Sistas implements a variety of programs to promote technological literacy and address issues that discourage women and girls from becoming interested in technology.
